Studio Art 100
This is a foundation course for all first year art students. This course will have a strong emphasis on the elements and principles of design and explore drawing, painting, graphic, and three dimensional design in a variety of mediums. Art history, art production, art perception (aesthetics), and criticism are all addressed in this course at an introductory level.
Studio Art 200
This year course builds on the Art 100 course introducing additional mediums for drawing, painting, graphics, and three dimensional design. Art history, art production, art perception (aesthetics), and criticism continue to be addressed at a progressive level. A stronger emphasis will be place on creativity and problem solving.
Studio Art 300
This full course continues to build on the Art 100 and 200 programs with emphasis on students developing a personal style and working in depth in a medium and/or subject area. This course is for the art student who has a strong interest in art and wishes to build a portfolio of work.
Studio Art 400
This course is for the serious art student who wishes to continue their studies in art but does not wish to take Advanced Placement Art.
AP Art
Art History
This course critically examines and analyzes the major forms of artistic expression, past and present, from a variety of cultures. It introduces the principles, techniques, and approaches to the creation of works of art and presents an overview of the great landmarks of art from prehistoric times through the twentieth century. Students will gain an understanding, knowledge and appreciation of architecture, sculpture, painting, and other art forms within diverse historical and cultural contexts.
Digital Art
This course introduces students to the basics of Photoshop, Illustrator and other digital art media.
